The Leopold Education Project

Professional Development for Educators

Picture
The Leopold Education Project (L.E.P.), is an innovative, interdisciplinary educational program based on the classic writings of the renowned conservationist, Aldo Leopold.  The L.E.P. was developed to teach educators about humanity’s ties to the natural world, and to provide leadership in the effort to conserve and protect the earth’s natural resources.

The goal is to instill a love, a respect and an admiration for the land, leading to an ecologically literate citizenry with an intense consciousness of the earth. Periodic workshops are offered at Historic Yates Mill County Park. For more information, view the links below!

What does L.E.P do?
Expand awareness and appreciation of nature and ecological understandings.
Increase use of the outdoors as a learning laboratory for first hand experience with the natural and cultural worlds outside the classroom.
Provide a supportive classroom climate to study various viewpoints and formulate responsible environmental values and actions.
L.E.P. uses A Sand County Almanac as text and outdoor experiences are an integral part of workshops.
Carries contact hours and CEUs for educators.
