Every week we take an expedition into the natural world to learn more about the relationship between your neighborhood and nature at Walnut Creek Wetlands Center.

The CORES ProjectThe CORES program is uniquely designed to provide hands-on experience for K-12 students in ecological restoration, teach observation skills in the natural environment, and encourage self-reflection. Our programs are based on holistic and place-based education. We will sit with teachers to specially design outdoor programs to teach or reinforce their objective or essential standard. Our project changes lives by providing a deeper way of seeing the land, one child at a time.

Wind Eagle Summer CampJoin C.H.E.R. this summer to have fun exploring and learning about the natural world around you at the beautiful Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh. The landscape allows for activities such as hiking, soil sifting, outdoor nature games, canoeing, fishing, arts, crafts and journaling with a visit to the historic 1760 Grist Mill.

Leopold Education ProjectThe Leopold Education Project is an innovative, interdisciplinary educational program based on the writings of conservationist, Aldo Leopold. The L.E.P. was designed to teach educators about humanity’s ties to the natural world, and to provide leadership in the effort to conserve and protect the earth’s natural resources.

Creation Care-Walking in GraceWalking in Grace programs are designed for those who want to develop deep relationships with the Divine. In the outdoors we use circles to show gratitude and share experiences. With mediation and sacred writings the participants will enter the forest using their senses and guided prompts to experience the natural world in new and richer ways to greater insights.

Earth EldeRevolutionEarth EldeRevolution is designed to provide participants with opportunities to explore thoughts and feelings though discussions about their relationships to Spirit, ourselves, others, Nature and our Planet. Though our discussions we will try to answer the question with planning: What will you do with your one wild and precious life?

The Great WorkThe Great Work book study is a 6 weeks study in applying the writings of Thomas Berry to everyday life. Some passages of the Great Work contain profound philosophical insights, others flow more like a lyric poem, still others provide detailed historical background and some motivate a person to actions. From the discussions it is anticipated that each participant will find ways to appreciate and appropriate the insights of Thomas Berry to make decisions about practical changes they can make in their own daily living in the planet.
