This entry is set in the present, where the author felt we are being most impacted by pollution of the earth and a distinct disconnect from nature.

Mother Earth

Give her this day her poisoned food,
pump her veins with coal black sludge
sell her soul to gold rich adders,
and hammer away at her thin shell.

Treat her like an empty vessel,
pouring broken promises into a molten core.
She accepts it all with undefinable grace.

All she yearns for is a soothing drink
of crystal clear salty waters.

Sometimes she thinks of closing her eyes for good,
until she feels the tug,

the tug of a new life.

She holds her breath and closes her eyes,
long having awaited this moment.
A steady breeze toussels her hair
and flowers are blooming across the universe.

It takes a village to crush her spirit,
but it takes just one to revive her.

Your actions are miniscule,
but she sees all.
You waltz across her tarot cards
and leave her smiling.

She reaches a ringed finger out to you,
eagerly awaiting your kiss upon it.
She hasn't been worshipped in light years.
