"State of Grace"
In the puddle of sunlight
And solitude
That edges the river
And the wood
I’ll make a pallet
Of pine needles
And compassion
Resting my head on a pillow
Of foraged feathers
And forgiveness.
I’ll throw a quilt of evergreen
And kindness
Across my body
Pulling the wild silence
Up under my chin.
I’ll drift off to sleep
In a state of grace
Dreaming of snow banks
And of warming my feet
By an open fire.
In the puddle of sunlight
And solitude
That edges the river
And the wood
I’ll make a pallet
Of pine needles
And compassion
Resting my head on a pillow
Of foraged feathers
And forgiveness.
I’ll throw a quilt of evergreen
And kindness
Across my body
Pulling the wild silence
Up under my chin.
I’ll drift off to sleep
In a state of grace
Dreaming of snow banks
And of warming my feet
By an open fire.
